The Importance of Digital Arts and Humanities
Digital Arts and Humanities (DAsH) applies data analysis and digital representation techniques to traditional humanities and social science questions. There are a lot of institutions that represent this sphere: Lyndon School Humanities College, Manhattan College, University College Cork, etc. Students and faculty publish findings in computer simulations, data visualizations, and other new formats that grant us new approaches to timeless questions using new tools in computer mapping, content management, network analysis, text mining, social media, and more. DAsH extends its reach from the classroom to the public sphere, seeking information on the Internet and in digitized sources, and launching bold research agendas within and beyond the traditional college classroom walls. The DAsH program is intended to provide students with digital skills that will be appealing to employers after they graduate.
Resources and lesson plans
A modest number of digital methods guides for new practitioners have been produced by our graduate assistants and staff and offer a moderate introduction to mapping, network analysis, and other topics. We also offer a number of teaching templates that are designed to assist professors and teachers in employing digital tools in their own classes.
